Souls of Worlds
The pieces below are connected to a book series I am writing entitled Souls of Worlds. While for years the original writings had connections to our world, recently it has been decided that it will now take place in a high fantasy setting. This setting has become a huge part of my art journey, the kingdom of Raikonid being the center of my BFA Illustration thesis.
In the world of Illique, humans are the dominate beings. Aislinn Heinrich is a human who sadly faces the discrimination of others based on her race, sexuality, interests, and gender. While her father may be a king, she is not treated as a legitimate heir.
As part of ongoing fueds between humans and a species of humanoid beings who have named themselves Raikonidians (after their kingdom Raikonid), Aislinn (Ais) is regularly kidnapped by Raikonid royalty. The young ruler of this kingdom, Xara Heyliana, took the throne after her father’s death a few years before. Turns out, even though all the words spread across the continent claim that the Raikonidians are ‘savage’ and ‘violent’ beings, they are actually excessively kind people. Still, they must deal with the constant threat of humans and the hatred shown towards them.
Will Ais be able to find a place in Raikonid? With Xara be able to keep her people safe and happy? Will they be able to overcome the challenges brought upon them while also navigating their relationship with each other and those around them?
I would love to have others join me on my journey of the creation of Illique and Raikonid. The premise of the story may have changed but the overall idea has been around for over 10 years. Here is to 10 more!
